Description
Turnips have become a very fashionable vegetable served as baby veg by top-class chefs in their restaurants and on TV programmes like Masterchef where dinner plates are dressed to impress. Turnip Tokyo Cross makes an ideal variety to grow at home with its round white roots, smooth skin, and sweet flavour.
Sow seeds thinly direct in drills 13mm deep, or in containers. Thin to every 15cm and eat the thinnings and allow the turnips to grow on, then thin the roots and eat as baby veg and allow the remaining to mature as large turnips (or just eat all as baby veg).
