Mexican Black Chia
Bright-green, bushy plants up to 4 feet tall. The black seed is made into a beverage, high in soluble fiber and oil. Traditional usage: Stimulant, stool softener and bulking agent, indigestion, diverticulitis, and Crohn’s. Natural foods to reduce cholesterol and triacylglycerides levels plant prefer full sun and mesic soils of moderate fertility.
Sow seeds on a light at any time onto a good soil-based compost. Cover the seeds with fine grit or compost to approximately their own depth. Germination at 15 to 20 degrees C. Seeds should germinate in between 2 and 6 weeks although they make take considerably longer. Pot on seedlings before finally planting out into a container or a well-drained spot.
