Also known as Rossa di Verona Chicory. Plants produce deep red round compact cabbage like heads. The firm texture and deep coloring of the leaves make them ideal for braising and cooking, as well as fresh use. Colder weather will produce the best color.
Sow seeds 0.5 inches deep from April-July.
Transplant seedlings at 3-4 leaf stage from July-August spacing them 10-14 inches apart and spacing rows 18-24 inches apart.
Harvest from September- November.
