Chenopodium quinoa
This selection of an ancient grain has dazzling colors of hot pink, burgundy, red, orange, yellow, white and green on showy tall spikes. Harvest the young leaves at around 35 days to eat raw or cooked. Later, collect the high protein, nutty-tasting seeds.
Can be sown under glass at any time for baby leaf. Can be sown directly in spring after the last frost. Sow into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in rows 25cm apart or broadcast sow. Germination is rapid taking from 3 days. Plants will grow quickly. Keep well watered.
