Climbing Bean, Climbing French Bean, Pole Snap Bean
A superb, early maturing climber that produces masses of long, round beans with an excellent flavor. Golden pods are about 8” in length and if picked regularly will keep on producing throughout the season. The immature pods are eaten whole, semi-mature pods are shelled and the beans inside are eaten, mature pods can also be shelled and the beans are eaten fresh or dried and stored like kidney beans. Climbing varieties can reach up to 2.5m in height and are best in grown-up canes.
Pole beans need the support of a trellis at least 6′ high. It can be a fence, strings, a net, or pole tipis. If using a pole, plant 4-6 beans around the leg of each pole, About every 4″ down the row.
