Description
An old Surinamese type that is not sold so this is the only place you will find it in the whole world. The seed was only available to seedsavers and rareseedsconsortium members to be propagated, but it seems to have survived here. We sowed the seeds quite late, in the middle of July, which was enough to get only 3 fruits, but enough to save. All the fruits are identical in shape – a triangle with ribs, by far the most beautiful and strangest melon we have had so far. The taste is similar to the domestic blackberry, the fruit weighs about 2 kg. I note that it has nothing to do with GMOs or hybrids, but rather an old rare variety that has a good chance of disappearing.
