Cucumis melo, Japanese pickling melon
This light green to white-cream, oval-shaped melon from Japan. Oshiro URI is best suited for pickling. The fruits have crisp white flesh and can reach 14″ long and 4-5″ in diameter. Excellent stuffed with meat and vegetables and baked, or in stir-fries, or simply eaten raw like cucumbers. The plant has a vine growth habit. Very heavy producer. 75 days.
