Description
Family: Cucurbitaceae
Genus: Cucumis
Species: Melo
Even if it is an ecotype of melon, it is different from the Italian ones, it is more like the oldest species, such as the mango melon, with which it shares a beautiful yellow color and white pulp. Round fruits of the same size reach 250 grams, in taste, it resembles a melon but with a lower % of sugar. This type of melon, as its name suggests, is also suitable for cooking; in fact, it can be used to replace apples in the pie. While the fruit is unripe, it can be cooked and pickled like a cucumber. The plant is very productive, undemanding, and suitable for those who start growing it for the first time. First harvest 75 days after transplanting, harvested when the stem is still attached to the plant. To get the seeds, wait for them to separate from the meat.
