A prized Italian strain is also known as the “Ironhead Savoy”. Small heads about 3 lbs each are highly prized for cooking in Italy. Light green color and good flavor make this a wonderful early variety at just the right size for both market and home use.
Sowing: Start indoors 6-8 weeks prior to the last frost. Plant ½” deep in the seed starting mix. Transplant in direct sun 2-3 weeks before the last frost. For fall harvest, direct sow 6-8 weeks before the first frost. Space plants 18-24” apart; space rows 24-36” apart.
