Description
Family: Apiaceae
Genus: Coriandrum
Species: Sativum
Slow-bolting selection grown for its leaves. Like the leaves and seeds, the flowers are also edible similar to parsley, fresh leaves, as well as seeds, can be used. Coriander seeds slightly smell like citrus. The fresh leaves, whereas, have a very own flavor which is hard to describe. The best, most consistent, good-tasting variety and being so well suited to pot growth, is the variety you will find in many supermarkets. It has a tidy, upright habit, is very vigorous with sturdy stems but also has good bolting resistance.
Sowing: Sown directly into the final growing position or a deep pot, keep moist. Seedlings do not transplant well. Thin young plants to 20cm. If flowers appear remove them immediately to encourage leaf growth.
