Description

One of the best maincrop varieties. It has a deep consistent orange/red color and conical roots. It can also be grown as a late-cropping variety. It is resistant to splitting and stores well when left in the ground. It has great flavor and is very high yielding. Good for storing too. 70 days from sowing to harvest

Sowing: April to July. Sow thinly direct into the growing site 2cm (¾”) deep in rows 30cm (12″) apart. If possible sow carefully so that thinning is not necessary. Carrot fly is attracted by the smell whilst thinning, If you have to thin the seedlings, do so in the evening. Water before thinning and remove all the debris. Do not transplant. Aim for roots 5-7cm (2-3″) apart. Young Carrots can always be pulled alternately to ‘thin as you eat.

Never grow carrots on the ground that has recently had manure spread, as the roots will fork in search of goodness.
