Description
Origin: Central-, North Europe, Central-, North Asia, North America: coniferous forest, moor, heath.
Special Features: Light-green shoots, black-blue berries.
Characteristics: decorative fruit / medicinal plant / beneficial plant / tea herb / culinary herb / groundcover, honey-bee food plant. The leaves and fruits are also used medicinally.
Soil conditions: Prefers light well drained soils, preferably acid. Can tolerate exposure but not coastal areas.Planting instructions: Sun or semi-shade but flowers are better in the sun. Perennial half-shrub. Light germ, sprinkle seeds only on the substrate, and press lightly. Germination uncomplicated at +15-20°C. Place in a cooler place after germination. Set the pricked seedlings outdoors from mid-May. Loves semi-shady, acidic habitats.
