A tropical tree that is grown commercially because of its delicious fruits that taste like a mix of melons and mangoes. It grows extremely fast, fruiting less than a year after germination. They grow true to type and you can use the seeds to regrow them, as long as they are not cross-pollinated with other papayas. From spring to winter it is stored outdoors, while during the winter it is stored in a closed, bright room at a temperature of about 15-18C. It does not tolerate excess moisture, so care should be taken when watering.
