Description

Turkish carnation / Tall for cutting

A two-year-old flower that is grown in a garden or potted species, can also be kept as a cut flower. In the first year, it forms a leaf mass and in the second year it flowers. The flowers are fragrant and edible, when the base of the flower is removed the petal is sweet.

Turkish carnation is often sown in June, and in order to achieve good germination, it is covered with a substrate for flowers, about 1 cm thick. When it is sown, it needs to be watered a lot. After sprouting, the young plants are transplanted during July and August to a permanent place, at a distance of 20 to 40 cm. In winter, it is protected from frost with evergreen twigs. It can also be propagated by division. The best place to plant a Turkish carnation is one that is exposed to sunlight throughout the day or is in light shade. It suits moderately moist and permeable soil. Since the Turkish carnation does not need a lot of water, it is watered moderately every few days. In the beginning, it is fed with liquid fertilizer once a week, and later it can be once a month. When the petals are in full bloom, you should not water them, especially in summer when it is very hot.
