Description

Family: Solanaceae
Tomatillo, Husk Tomato, Open-pollinated, Heirloom

Tiny of Coban Tomatillos are a rare find, originally from Coban, Guatemala. This variety produces small, purple-tinged green fruit that retains its husks when ripe. Husks won’t split on the plant so it can be hard to tell when they’re ripe, if you pick them early you can finish ripening them indoors. These tomatillos have an unusual savory flavor.

Sowing Instructions: Can be sown at any time of year except early to mid-summer. Sow on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost and sprinkle compost over the seeds as light is beneficial to germination. Place in a propagator or seal in a polythene bag and maintain a temperature of about 20C. Germination should take from 1-3 weeks and as the seedlings emerge, gradually increase ventilation by opening the bag or propagator vents.
