Decorative bush ( native to China, Japan, and Korea ) produces delicious, sweet, orange-red to dark red berries. They are ideal for eating fresh from the bush, and also in jams, jellies, and desserts, and are perfect in pastries and pies. 2m high. Moist but well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered spot.
Sowing: sow seeds at any time of the year into a sandy compost and cover them thinly with grit. Leave the seed tray in a cool spot and keep moist, seed generally germinates very slowly indeed, usually appearing in spring whenever they are sown. These seeds are fresh but germination can be slow. Cold stratification can accelerate germination.
