Actinidia kolomikta / Variegated Kiwi




From Eastern Asia comes this unusual, striking climber with heart-shaped leaves that are metallic green in spring, then gradually become variegated with creamy-white and pink as the season progresses. In June bears fragrant white flowers followed by sweet, edible fruits that are rich in vitamin C. A hardy climber, but will give the best colour if planted against a wall or fence in full sun.

Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours.
Stratification:Cold stratify for 90 days.
Germination: Sow seed 1/4″ deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seedbed.
Other: Fall sowing in mulched beds ( outside ) is preferred to artificial stratification.
